Period 1 - Spanish 5 AP/GT

Phrase of the day: hacerle falta a

Introduction: Students took a pop quiz on the preterite and imperfect.

Development: Students answered a variety of guide questions about the Popol Vuh, chapters 1 and 2. Students also began talking about differences and similarities between the Popol Vuh and other religious texts.

Conclusion: Students recapped the day's lesson by identifying the first two chapters with one or two words to best describe them. We also talked about how the gods in the Mayan society, according to the text, take on several "human" traits.

Home assignment: Read up to chapter 3 for next class.


Periods 2 and 3 - French 2

Introduction: Students warmed up with text, page 19, activity 2.

Development: We reviewed and discussed how -ER verbs are conjugated in French. Students also received a worksheet / grid in which they conjugated 4 -ER verbs. Students will bring this grid back on Friday.

Conclusion: Students answered basic questions using the different forms of -ER verbs showing comprehension of meaning and language structure.

Exit pass: Students copied 5 sentences from the board. They were to complete each sentence with the correct article or expression that made each sentence logical.

Home assignment: Students will read up to page 24 for next class.

Period 5 - Spanish 3

Introduction: Students completed "Writing Audio and Video" workbook, pages 91 and 92, activity 6. These were discussed.

Development: Students once again discussed the role of preterite and imperfect. To develop this idea, the class collectively wrote a brief paragraph about a snow day. Students were asked to choose between one tense and the other, explaining the usage for each verb.

Conclusion: Students played another rapid fire game of chapter 5A vocabulary.

Home assignment: Students were once again asked to study the vocabulary and language structures from chapter 5A.

Period 6 - French 5 AP/GT

Phrase of the day: en direct

Introduction: In pairs, students completed text, page 266, activity H. This was done orally and was discussed in detail on the board.

Development: Students received back their graded quizzes from yesterday. These were gone over. To further hone understanding of the role of pronominal verbs and the rules of agreement of the past participle in the passé composé, the class collectively discussed the worksheet addressing the 9 different rules of agreement.

Conclusion: Students were asked to once again make a determination in a variety of simple sentences of when there is participle agreement and when there is not agreement.

Home assignment: Students were asked to continue studying the content addressing the passé composé and the different rules of participle agreement.
