Period 1 - Spanish 5 AP/GT

Phrase of the day: tener que ver con

Introduction: Students got back their quizzes on the preterite and imperfect. These were gone over on the board.

Development: Students returned to the text of the Popol Vuh. We discussed chapters 2 and 3. We again discussed the idea of a polytheistic society as well as a hierarchical, or tiered culture.

Conclusion: Students were asked to think about the end of chapter 3 and to talk about what was going on.

Home assignment: Answer the guide questions for chapters 1-5, and to read up to and including chapter 5. Students were also asked to think about what was going on at the end of the 3rd chapter.

Periods 2 and 3 - French 2

Introduction: Students were given "rapid fire" oral questions using the interrogative expressions in French. This was paired with the conjugation activity of -ER verbs we completed the other day.

Development: We discussed the conjugation of -IR and -RE verbs. We also discussed a variety of modal expressions, such as "je peux", "je veux", "je voudrais" and the negation of these expressions.

Conclusion: Students took a pop quiz on the use of articles and the conjugation of -ER verbs.

Home assignment: Students will review and re-enter the entire review chapter.

Period 5 - Spanish 3

Introduction: Students received back their graded home assignment from the other night. These were gone over and any questions very answered.

Development: Students played "rapid fire" vocabulary review with the expressions from chapter 5A.

Conclusion: Students took a pop quiz on lesson 5A.

Home assignment: Students will continue to hone their comprehension of the chapter 5A vocabulary and the use of the preterite tense.

Period 6 - French 5 AP/GT

Phrase of the day: rester sur ses positions

Introduction: Students worked on a pairs activity in which they had to decide on whether to use the agreement of the past participle. These answers were gone over.

Development: Students were encouraged to ask questions about the activity and to explain to classmates how and why the past participle agreed in a variety of contexts.

Conclusion: Students took a pop quiz on the rules of participle agreement.

Home assignment: Students will continue to study the various rules of participle agreement.
