Period 1 - Spanish 5 AP/GT

Phrase of the day: volver en sí

Students began watching El coronel no tiene quien le escriba in class. They were asked to identify as many differences between the book and the movie as possible and to write them down.

Periods 2 and 3 - French 2

Students started off with a warm up activity from a transparency, asking them to translate 10 basic sentences with the verb AVOIR. Students then saw a variety of other transparencies, asking students to conjugate verbs using the passé composé. To end class, students received a worksheet with 15 photos along with 15 captions to those photos. Each caption contained a verb used in the passé composé. In pairs, and then as a class, we worked to identify all 15 verbs used in this tense. For homework, students were asked to complete the back of the sheet, filling in a grid using words to describe actions in the present, past, and future.

Period 5 - Spanish 3

Students began the writing process for the second time this year. They worked on their word wheels (for brainstorming) and in pairs, collaborated on how to write a good first draft. These first drafts were handed in at the end of the class. The topic for this writing assignment is "El campeón de la escuela". Students will continue with this writing process tomorrow.

Period 6 - French 5 AP/GT

Phrase of the day: une marée humaine

Students participated in a writing / rotation activity today. Going from station to station, students were asked to begin writing a different story for each station. As they moved between each station, students had to continue each story based on what their classmate had written before them.
