Period 1 - Spanish 5 AP/GT

Phrase of the day: estar harto(a) de / hartarse de

Introduction: We discussed our plans for the weekend.

Development: Students worked in small groups to complete a verb activity from an old AP exam. All answers were gone over on the board.

Home assignment: There was no assignment given for this weekend.

Periods 2 and 3 - French 2

Introduction and Development: Students used the magazines they brought in to do a creative project, called a "personal dictionary entry". Cutting and pasting pictures from the magazines, students created a collage about them. On the back of the collage, students wrote a minimum of 10 sentences describing themselves, their interests, their families by using the 3rd person.

Home assignment: Students were asked to study and read up to page 15 in their texts.

Period 5 - Spanish 3

Introduction: Students saw a power point, testing their knowledge of the 5A vocabulary.

Development: With their vocabulary lists, students completed a fill-in the blank activity based on the new 5A vocabulary and the use of the preterite. This was gone over on the board.

Conclusion: After further oral review of the new vocabulary, students completed a crossword puzzle activity. This was also collected.

Home assignment: Students were asked to continue studying chapter 5A vocabulary and begin reviewing the uses and formations of the preterite tense.

Period 6 - French 5 AP/GT

Phrase of the day: tenir à

Introduction: Students went over the dictée from yesterday. We discussed the grammatical and structural points of the activity, focusing on the rules of agreement of the past participle.

Development: Using the worksheets given out earlier in the week, students received a more detailed introduction to the use and rules of the past participle in French.

Home assignment: Students were encouraged to take a look at chapters 2 and 12 in the text to get a better idea about the rules of agreement of the past participle in French.

Period 1 - Spanish 5 AP/GT

Phrase of the day: dejar plantado(a)

Introduction: Use this expression to talk about a time in the past this has happened to you.

Development: Distribute review handouts of both preterite and imperfect.

Closure: Use handouts to complete an activity, filling in the story with either tense.

Periods 2 and 3 - French 2

Students were presented a variety of French expressions they are expected to use when participating in class in the target language. These were copied into their notes.

Introduction: Students answered questions about their birthdays and other things having to do with the calendar, and then did text, page 10, #4 or #5.

Development: Students continued to review numbers by telling time, text, page 11, #6.

Closure: Students spoke in small groups to complete text, page 13, #4 and using the expression il y a when describing what was in certain places.

Home assignment: Bring in a colorful and appropriate magazine for a creative project tomorrow.

Period 5 - Spanish 3

Introduction: Power point warm up using chapter 5A vocabulary. Students shown strategies on how to identify the gender of nouns and how to follow rules of agreement.

Development: In their PRACTICE workbook packets, students worked independently to complete page 93. This was later gone over and discussed as a class.

Language Structure: The use and function of reflexive verbs in both conjugated form as well as the infinitive form was discussed. A variety of example were provided on the board.

Conclusion: All students participated in a round of "quick fire" vocabulary from the chapter.

Home assignment: Students were asked to continue studying the new vocabulary.

Period 6 - French 5 AP/GT

Phrase of the day: être doué(e) pour

Introduction: To further discuss and review the use of interrogatives, students orally discussed text, page 216, activity D and 217, activity F.

Development: Students took a quiz on the use of interrogatives on which they were only permitted to use their textbooks. Two extra credit points were offered at the end of the quiz.

Conclusion: Students took their first dictée and received their blue mini-books. They learned how to take a dictation and received a copy of the activity afterward to compare their answers and to make all necessary corrections. Today's dictée was about Godiva chocolate truffles.

Home assignment: Please bring the dictées back to class tomorrow with the answers for further discussion.

Period 1 - Spanish 5 AP/GT

Today's phrase of the day was...estar al tanto de. Students received their textbooks today. We each identified something about us that nobody else knows as a way to introduce ourselves to each other. To end class, students were given a list of citations from a Paolo Coelho book. Students will bring these back tomorrow to finish our discussion.

Periods 2 and 3 - French 2

Today students started into the Reprise chapter. We read and discussed the material on pages 4 and 5. Additionally, students completed page 8, activity 1. Students were asked to study up to page 11 for tomorrow's class.

Period 5 - Spanish 3

Students received their textbooks today. Students also received their WRITING AUDIO VIDEO packets as well as their PRACTICE workbook packets. Students received the vocabulary for chapter 5A and were asked to complete both sides of the sheet by identifying the meanings of each word for tomorrow's class.

Period 6 - French 5 AP/GT

Today's phrase of the day was...aller à l'encontre de. We completed the discussion of interrogatives from the packet started yesterday. Students received a packet on the rules of agreement for the past participle in French. Students also received their textbooks today. We took a look at chapter 10, and orally discussed activity B in the chapter. Students were asked to study chapter 10 and the packet for next class.

Period 1 - Spanish 5 AP/GT

Today's phrase of the day was...darle la bienvenida a alguien. Students received the policies and expectations for the class. They will sign and return the bottom portion tomorrow for 5 points. Students were given information about the AP exam in May, as well as the structure of the Spanish AP exam. Students received a fun activity about confusing words in Spanish.

Periods 2 and 3 - French 2

Students received the policies and expectations for the class. They will sign and return the bottom portion tomorrow for 5 points. Students received their textbook today and were asked to cover them for next class.

Period 5 - Spanish 3

Students received the policies and expectations for the class. They will sign and return the bottom portion tomorrow for 5 points.

Period 6 - French 5 AP/GT

Today's phrase of the day was...souhaiter la bienvenue. Students received the policies and expectations for the class. They will sign and return the bottom portion tomorrow for 5 points. Students received a packet testing their knowledge of using the correct interrogative words to complete a sentence. We will continue working this packet tomorrow in class.
