Period 1 - Spanish 5 AP/GT

Phrase of the day: huele a

Students completed an oral rotation activity today. Students will continue studying the subjunctive in adverbial clauses on Monday.

Periods 2 and 3 - French 2

Students completed some creative projects using adjectives and the verb être. Their quiz on Lesson 2 will be on Tuesday of next week.

Period 5 - Spanish 3

Students warmed up with chapter 5B vocabulary and "flash card" identification activities from the guided practice book. Students then worked in pairs using these words to create sentences using the preterite. These sentences were discussed and displayed on the board.

Period 6 - French 5 AP/GT

Phrase of the day: faire honte à

Students went over the homework paragraph using the subjunctive. Students also listened to "Rejoinders" series 1.

Period 1 - Spanish 5 AP/GT

Phrase of the day: dejar de + infinitive

Students took a quiz on relative clauses today. To end class, we discussed the role of the expression como si as well as the three types of si clauses...ranging from expressing reality to impossibility. We briefly discussed tense alignment.

Periods 2 and 3 - French 2

Students started class with a crossword puzzle. This was gone over. The majority of our class time though, was spent on the differences between C'est and Il est/Elle est. We took a look at page 50 and then orally discussed activity #9 on page 51. Students were asked to bring in a magazine tomorrow to do another creative project.

Period 5 - Spanish 3

The homework assignment was collected. A warm up crossword puzzle was given out and students started class with this task. This was gone over. A further, developmental activity with questions and answers from 5B was distributed and discussed. We further practiced our vocabulary by listening to and completing "Writing Audio and Video" workbook, page 101, activity 6. Class ended with students completing an exit pass about the preterite tense.

Period 6 - French 5 AP/GT

Phrase of the day: compter sur quelqu'un

Students received two worksheets today, asking them to use certain time conjunctions and to decide whether the subjunctive would be appropriate in a variety of contexts. Students further examined these special words on the two-sided handout that was distributed, and differentiating between ones that use the indicative and those that use the subjunctive. Students will complete a paragraph activity on which they have to decide how to complete the blanks based on a variety of grammatical structures.

Period 1 - Spanish 5 AP/GT

Phrase of the day: salirse con la suya

Students copied the activity "Mi amiga perfecta" from the screen today. We further discussed the role of the subjunctive with relative clauses. The quiz originally scheduled for today has been moved to Thursday.

Periods 2 and 3 - French 2

A further discussion of lesson 2 took place. First, students got their lesson 1 quizzes back and were gone over. Students volunteered to provide the answers in the adjective grid. After, students got into groups of 4. A subject was put on the board and students had to use être and as many adjectives in their right forms to describe the subject on the board. Students finished class with another exit pass. Students were asked to continue studying the remainder of chapter 2. Students will probably have their lesson 2 quiz on Tuesday.

Period 5 - Spanish 3

The homework question and answers were gone over. There were more activities incorporating the chapter 5B vocabulary. The concept of me with verbs like "doler" were explored, and students used this construction to say what hurts them. Students ended class by completing "Writing Audio Video" workbook page 100. Students will complete text, page 270 activity 4 for next class.

Period 6 - French 5 AP/GT

Phrase of the day: être en panne / tomber en panne / en panne / une panne d'électricité

Students took a quiz today on the subjunctive. We had an in-depth discussion of the uses and formation of the subjonctif passé. To this end, a power point was displayed with specific examples of its use. To end class, students completed another worksheet asking them to complete a variety of sentences with verbs in the past subjunctive.

Period 1 - Spanish 5 AP/GT

Phrase of the day: dar a luz a un bebé

Students took a quiz on nominal clauses today. After the quiz, we began discussing relative / adjectivial clauses with the subjunctive. In doing so, we identified verbs that indicate reality and those that indicate a dream, or fantasy.

Periods 2 and 3 - French 2

Students further discussed the verb être and various expressions with this important verb. We talked about how to describe ourselves and friends/family. Students received their adjective grids and began working on filling it in. Students completed a permis de partir before leaving. For homework, students will completely fill in the adjective grid.

Period 5 - Spanish 3

In groups of 4, students worked on a forming and answering questions using the chapter 5B vocabulary. Students also used the preterite to incorporate into these questions. For homework, students will answer the questions given in class.

Period 6 - French 5 AP/GT

Phrase of the day: avoir une faim de loup

Students orally competed chapter 16, activities A and C. Students received a "letter from Mireille" and were asked to check the letter for any errors. Students corrected these errors using the subjunctive. For homework, students will read text page 510-511 about the ne pléonastique. They will also complete text, page 351, activity H.

Period 1 - Spanish 5 AP/GT

Today's phrase of the day was...nos guste o no. We discussed the use of the subjunctive in nominal clauses today. We discussed the difference between different verbs...some that take the subjunctive and others that don't. Students explained why in both cases. We also took a look at text, page 191 and 192, asking students to orally provide a variety of responses to sentence-starters...again some using the subjunctive and some the indicative. We changed up the activity also by changing the tense of the WEDDINGS verb from present to past, to verify that students use the correct form of the imperfect subjunctive. Students will have a quiz tomorrow on nominal clauses.

Periods 2 and 3 - French 2

Students took their Lesson 1 quiz today. After the quiz, we, as a class, read the VIDEO SCENE for lesson 2. We met Corinne and Armelle. Students also became aware of the verb être, or, "to be" in French. Students will re-read the VIDEO SCENE as well as study up to page 46 for tomorrow's class.

Period 5 - Spanish 3

Students received back all of the graded assignments from last week. Some of these were gone over and any questions were answered. Students began class by warming up with "Writing Audio Video" workbook page 96. Students also received the vocabulary list for chapter 5B. Students were asked to start studying this new vocabulary for tomorrow.

Period 6 - French 5 AP/GT

Today's phrase of the day was...s'en remettre à. Students saw a power point on the uses of the subjunctive...how and when to use it and conjugate it correctly. Students worked in pairs to come up with words or expressions that fit each category of WEIRDSONG. Students will continue to bring their textbooks each day this week. Students also got back some graded work from last week.
