Period 1 - Spanish 5 AP/GT

Phrase of the day: al final de cuentas / en resumidas cuentas

Students completed a worksheet today seeing how well they understand QUE and QUIEN, and their variants. Students then talked about the remaining relative pronouns and their roles in different contexts.

Periods 2 and 3 - French 2

Students completed a worksheet today about the use of the inversion structure when asking questions in French. Students then examined the role of the word DEPUIS, especially in the questions Depuis quand...? and Depuis combien de temps...? STUDENTS WILL HAVE THEIR UNIT 1 TEST NEXT WEDNESDAY.

Period 5 - Spanish 3

Students completed the writing process by writing their final draft of their story.

Period 6 - French 5 AP/GT

Phrase of the day: s'entendre comme chien et chat

Students opened class with some practice again using the conditional and conditional past. Students then moved to practicing and implementing the future and future anterior with certain expressions. This was accomplished by completing Activity I from chapter 14. Random students were chosen to write the answers to the activity on the board. STUDENTS WILL HAVE A TEST ON WEDNESDAY.

Period 1 - Spanish 5 AP/GT

Today's phrase of the day was: sintonizar / Gracias por su sintonía.

Students received a much more detailed discussion of QUE and QUIEN, and their variants today in class. We used the text to assist us in doing that. We orally discussed and reviewed text, page 287, A, 289, A, and 290, B. Students were asked to study the text up to page 295 for tomorrow.

Periods 2 and 3 - French 2

Students completed a warm up on the board by writing 5 sentences with ALLER and 5 with VENIR. Students then developed these skills by saying where they were going to, coming from, and what they were going to do there and what they have already done there. Students ended class by completing the workbook, page 30, the top. Students will study page 70 for homework. STUDENTS WILL HAVE THEIR UNIT ONE TEST NEXT WEDNESDAY.

Period 5 - Spanish 3

Students worked on peer editing strategies and re-write strategies on their stories. They will complete the writing of their stories in class tomorrow. Students also received the rubric for this writing assignment in class.

Period 6 - French 5 AP/GT

Phrase of the day: Allez en ville. / une heure plus tard dans les maritimes

Students worked and honed their skills with the conditional and conditional past today. We warmed up with answering some questions using SI clauses. Students then received a packet about the conditional and conditional past, the use of the verb DEVOIR in different tenses, as well as practicing with these two tenses. Students translated a variety of sentences using the tenses, and comparing how these translations are not necessarily the same as in English. Students will complete a worksheet for tomorrow's class for their home assignment. The first one was done at the end of class as a model. STUDENTS WILL HAVE A TEST NEXT WEDNESDAY ON THE USES OF THE INDICATIVE, SUBJUNCTIVE, FUTURE AND CONDITIONAL, AS WELL AS THE AGREEMENT OF THE PAST PARTICIPLE.

Period 1 - Spanish 5 AP/GT

Students began class by taking a quiz on the passive voice and the uses of the word SE. When the quiz ended, students received a general introduction to the uses of the relative pronouns QUE and QUIEN. Students were asked to bring their textbooks tomorrow.

Periods 2 and 3 - French 2

Students began class by completing text, page 67, activity 4 as a warm up. Students then continued studying ALLER and VENIR by completing workbook, pages 27 and 29. To conclude class, students mentioned places to where and from where they were going and coming. Home assignment: text, page 69, activity 6.

Period 5 - Spanish 3

Students took today to begin writing their first draft of their stories. Dictionaries were made available for students to use during this writing process. Students will participate in peer editing tomorrow.

Period 6 - French 5 AP/GT

Phrase of the day: C'est chou vert ou vert chou.

Students were shown two power points today, one dealing with the future and future anterior and the other one addressing the conditional and conditional past. Students were asked to study chapters 14 and 15, showing all uses of these four tenses. Students will continue to bring their textbooks on a daily basis.

Period 1 - Spanish 5 AP/GT

There was no phrase of the day today.

Students completed their first "Formal Oral Presentation" today in class. They have a quiz on the word SE tomorrow.

Periods 2 and 3 - French 2

Students got their quizzes back today for lesson 3. These were gone over. Students listened to the "Video Scene" for lesson 4. They worked in pairs to orally discuss the comprehension questions. They picked out forms of the verbs "ALLER" and "VENIR" from the dialogue. Their homework is to complete page 67, Activities 1 and 2.

Period 5 - Spanish 3

Students got their tests back from chapters 5A and 5B. These were gone over. After, students completed a practice activity on the past progressive. Students then began the first step of the writing process. They will be writing a story entitled, "Un accidente cerca de mi casa". They will bring their word wheels back tomorrow to start the actual writing process.

Period 6 - French 5 AP/GT

Phrase of the day: avoir un chat dans la gorge

Students read a couple of articles today, one from Le Soleil and one from Le Figaro regarding the current retirement crisis in France. We discussed these articles in terms of using the forms of the future and conditional in French. Students were asked, to not only pick out forms of the passé composé, but to identify the future and conditional in the articles. Students were asked to bring in their texts tomorrow.
