Period 1 - Spanish 5 AP/GT

There was no phrase of the day today. Students watched the rest of the movie. For homework, students will discuss the following: ¿por qué la obra se llama El coronel no tiene quien le escriba en vez de nadie escribe al coronel? This is due for Monday.

Periods 2 and 3 - French 2

Students completed a worksheet today reviewing the passé composé learned this week. We also went over the homework due for today: two activities from the text.

Period 5 - Spanish 3

Mr. Doff was absent from this class today.

Period 6 - French 5 AP/GT

Period 1 - Spanish 5 AP/GT

There was no phrase of the day today. Students continued watching El coronel. To end class, students worked together to complete a worksheet of questions based on the movie. This was handed in. We will finish the movie tomorrow.

Periods 2 and 3 - French 2

Students warmed up with worksheet on the passé composé. Students practiced using this tense by asking questions and learning how to respond negatively using the passé composé. Practice was completed by doing text, page 113, activity 5, and page 114, activity 7. For homework: students will complete page 115, activities 9 and 10, and to study the new vocabulary on page 116.

Period 5 - Spanish 3

Students continued working on draft 1 of their story. This was handed in at the end of class.

Period 6 - French 5 AP/GT

Phrase of the day: Il n'y a pas un chat.

Students worked as a collective group to write a story. This was done by providing students with a story starting sentence, and each member of the group then had two minutes to add to the story. In a second round of circulating the story, each student was only permitted to write one sentence to conclude the story.

Period 1 - Spanish 5 AP/GT

Phrase of the day: volver en sí

Students began watching El coronel no tiene quien le escriba in class. They were asked to identify as many differences between the book and the movie as possible and to write them down.

Periods 2 and 3 - French 2

Students started off with a warm up activity from a transparency, asking them to translate 10 basic sentences with the verb AVOIR. Students then saw a variety of other transparencies, asking students to conjugate verbs using the passé composé. To end class, students received a worksheet with 15 photos along with 15 captions to those photos. Each caption contained a verb used in the passé composé. In pairs, and then as a class, we worked to identify all 15 verbs used in this tense. For homework, students were asked to complete the back of the sheet, filling in a grid using words to describe actions in the present, past, and future.

Period 5 - Spanish 3

Students began the writing process for the second time this year. They worked on their word wheels (for brainstorming) and in pairs, collaborated on how to write a good first draft. These first drafts were handed in at the end of the class. The topic for this writing assignment is "El campeón de la escuela". Students will continue with this writing process tomorrow.

Period 6 - French 5 AP/GT

Phrase of the day: une marée humaine

Students participated in a writing / rotation activity today. Going from station to station, students were asked to begin writing a different story for each station. As they moved between each station, students had to continue each story based on what their classmate had written before them.

Period 1 - Spanish 5 AP/GT

Phrase of the day: confiar en / tener confianza en

Today we finished our discussion of the book. Students completed a crossword puzzle to end class. Students will complete 10 questions for homework. Students were reminded to work independently on the homework assignment.

Periods 2 and 3 - French 2

Students warmed up today by completing the comprehension questions for the "Vidéo-scène" for lesson 6, on page 109. Students then had a more formal introduction into the formation and use of the passé composé in French. Students were given 10 places with 10 subjects on the board; they wrote simple French sentences using this new tenses to express what these people did in those places. To close class, students orally discussed activity 4 on page 112. Students will study the vocabulary at the top of 112 for homework.

Period 5 - Spanish 3

Students took their quiz on lesson 6A today. To end class, and to bring the chapter together, students completed "Writing Audio Video" workbook, page 114. This was gone over on the board.

Period 6 - French 5 AP/GT

Phrase of the day: une bande noire

Students practiced some AP review activities today. "Rejoinders" series 3 and 4 and "Reading Comprehension" section 1 were completed.

Period 1 - Spanish 5 AP/GT

Phrases of the day: pilotar / chuletas

Today students continued the discussion surrounding the book. We will finish it tomorrow as well as have a variety of activities for students to complete.

Periods 2 and 3 - French 2

Students took their quiz on lesson 5 today. To end class, students got a very rudimentary introduction to the formation and uses of the passé composé with AVOIR. For their home assignment, students will complete text, page 111, activities 1 and 2.

Period 5 - Spanish 3

Students received a second Catrina #2 activity worksheet which we completed together. Students also completed "Practice" workbook, page 119, which was a nice review before the students take their quiz on chapter 6A for tomorrow.

Period 6 - French 5 AP/GT

Phrase of the day: Il fait un froid de canard.

Students took their quiz today on the role and use of relative pronouns in French.
