Periods 1, 5 and 6

Students enjoyed today with rich, cultural discussions about what the holiday season means to them and their families.

Periods 2 and 3 - French 2

Students used today to get with their groups and starts thinking about how they are going to attack their creative projects about DR and MRS VANDERTRAMPP, which are due on Thursday, January 6, 2011. Students will have their Unit 2 test on either January 10 or 11, 2011.

Period 1 - Spanish 5 AP/GT

Phrase of the day: faltarle a uno un tornillo

Today students paired up in groups of two. We played a game where the teacher provided a verb, students, in pairs, came up with the past participle and made as many sentences as possible with that participle. The objective of this activity was to show that verbs can derive many different parts of speech in Spanish.

Periods 2 and 3 - French 2

Students were shown 3 different presentations today produced and created by other French students. These creative presentations were done to show the uses of the verbs included in DR and MRS VANDERTRAMPP. Students will get into their groupings tomorrow and start the planning process of their projects. They will have January 3 - January 5 to work on these activities during class time. The projects are due on Thursday, January 6. Students will also have their Unit 2 exam on either January 10 or January 11.

Period 5 - Spanish 3

Students took their chapters 6A and 6B test today.

Period 6 - French 5 AP/GT

Phrase of the day: tassés comme des sardines

Students handed in their homework assignment. Students continued to study the use of the present participle / gerund in French.

Period 1 - Spanish 5 AP/GT

Phrase of the day: Antes de que te cases, mira lo que haces.

Students completed text, pages 48-50 today, discussing the role of the past participle as either a verb or an adjective.

Periods 2 and 3 - French 2

Students spent the period completing a worksheet from the Activités pour tous. All answers wer gone over on the board.

Period 5 - Spanish 3

Students were given the format for the test tomorrow. Students received yet another worksheet preparing them for the exam on chapters 6A and 6B. Students discussed the answers to the worksheets and these were put on the board.

Period 6 - French 5 AP/GT

Phrase of the day: comme si de rien n'était

Students completed activities B and C from chapter 22, the use of the gerund and the present participle. Students received two worksheets that were completed in class. They have a third worksheet due for tomorrow as a home assignment.

Period 1 - Spanish 5 AP/GT

There was no phrase of the day today.

Students used today as a personal, quiet study period. Students were reminded to bring their textbooks to class tomorrow.

Periods 2 and 3 - French 2

Period 5 - Spanish 3

We continued to review for Wednesday's unit 6 test today in class. Students received two worksheets, for brainstorming vocabulary and for practicing the formation and use of the preterite.

Period 6 - French 5 AP/GT

Students were introduced to the present participle today, how to form it and how it is used, addtionally with the gerund. Students received a worksheet describing this. Tonight, students will be reading chapter 22, pages 450-456 and will be ready to discuss the topic tomorrow.
