Today was a 2-hour delay due to inclement weather.

Period 1 - Spanish 5 AP/GT

Students took a quiz today on the use of articles.

Periods 2 and 3 - French 2

Students worked on reviewing for Monday's test by completing the Test de contrôle from the textbook. Students will also hand in their projects on Monday.

Period 5 - Spanish 3

Students received the vocabulary list for chapter 7A. They used their textbooks to define the words.

Period 6 - French 5 AP/GT

Students took a quiz today on the faire factitif (causatif).

Period 1 - Spanish 5 AP/GT

Phrase of the day: no decir ni pío

Today we discussed the homework. Students also concluded class by completing an activity dealing with the use of articles. Students have a quiz tomorrow.

Periods 2 and 3 - French 2

Students received a worksheet today reviewing the passé composé using avoir and être. They also completed workbook page 70. Students ended class by completing text, page 136, activity 9. This was handed in. Students were reminded that their unit 2 test and projects are due on Monday.

Period 5 - Spanish 3

Students reviewed some writing strategies. We went over the homework. Students then got back their paragraphs from the other day. They re-wrote them and handed them in.

Period 6 - French 5 AP/GT

Phrase of the day: un rat de bibliothèque

Students completed another activity dealing with the faire causatif. Students presented all answers on the board and we discussed them. We also reviewed by orally completing text, pages 287-288, activities I and J. Students have a quiz tomorrow on this structure.

Period 1 - Spanish 5 AP/GT

Phrase of the day: tomar aliento / tomar a pecho

Students read about the different rules for using and not using the different articles. We disucssed the activity on page 269 in the text. Students were asked to re-read the rules and study them, along with completing text, pages 265-266, activities 1-6. There will be a quiz on Friday on this topic.

Periods 2 and 3 - French 2

Students used today again to continue working on their projects. Due to technological issues, the project due date has been extended to Monday. The students will also have their test on unit 2 on Monday as well.

Period 5 - Spanish 3

Students received two worksheets today, functioning as a review for La Catrina. These worksheets were gone over on the board and discussed extensively in class. Students received a third worksheet, which was a description of episode 5 written by Mr. Doff. The students have to re-write this brief 2-paragraph description in the past tense, deciding between the preterite, imperfect or imperfect progressive. This is due tomorrow.

Period 6 - French 5 AP/GT

Phrase of the day: Ce n'est pas la mer à boire.

Students handed in their homework assignment. Students then received a worksheet asking them to translate 11 different sentences using se couper les cheveux, ranging from basic present tense to the subjunctive with the faire causatif. Students ended class by getting into teams of three, and rewriting sentences using this complex construction. All answers were put on the board and each team then had to critique the work of the other team. Students will have a quiz on Friday on this topic.

Period 1 - Spanish 5 AP/GT

Phrase of the day: tener lugar / tener sentido

Students completed "Informal Writing" section 3 today. We also opened our discussion of the use of articles, both definite and indefinite. Activity A on page 261 was done orally. Students were asked to read and study pages 250-264 for tomorrow.

Periods 2 and 3 - French 2

Students continued working on their projects. They will have one more day to work on them in class. They are due on Thursday. Students had a chance to see the letters that our Senegalese pen-pals sent to us. We will continue to correspond with our friends in Kaolack, Senegal.

Period 5 - Spanish 3

Students discussed the Catrina, episode 5 comprehension questions. Then, to end class, students wrote a brief review of what happened in the episode. We first brainstormed the characters in the episode and then they had a chance to write.

Period 6 - French 5 AP/GT

Phrase of the day: un vieux garçon

Students continued working with the faire factitif and completed some practice with this structure. We also went over the homework that was started in class. Students were given a worksheet for homework this evening as well as using text, pages 286-287 for additional support.

Period 1 - Spanish 5 AP/GT

There was no phrase of the day today.

Students talked about their holiday break. They also completed "Informal Writing" section 2. They were asked to bring these responses back to class tomorrow.

Periods 2 and 3 - French 2

Students used today to start working on their projects. They will have 2 more days and then hand in their projects on Thursday of this week. As of right now, they will take their Unit 2 test next Monday.

Period 5 - Spanish 3

Students watched episode 5 of La Catrina. Students completed and handed in the packet of activities. They will complete the comprehension questions for tomorrow's class.

Period 6 - French 5 AP/GT

There was no phrase of the day today.

Students were introduced to the faire factitif. Students saw a power point on how this structure functions in French. They then received a worksheet with vocabulary and three diagrams on rooms in a house that was falling apart. They will write 5 sentences for each room, telling what they will have done in each one in order to fix them.
