Period 1 - Spanish 5 AP/GT

Today's phrase of the day was: peces gordos

Students were in the Dell Lab today, where we practiced the "Informal Speaking" portion of the AP test. We completed sections 2 and 3 and students exported them to the "Hand In" folder on the school server. Students were asked to bring the text of the play to class on Monday.

Periods 2 and 3 - French 2

Students completed all of the listening and writing activities from the workbook in preparation for the upcoming quiz on lesson 9 on Monday of next week. All answers to the workbook activities were gone over together.

Period 5 - Spanish 3

Students watched episode #7 of La Catrina. They completed the activity packet and this was handed in at the end of class.

Period 6 - French 5 AP/GT

Today's phrase of the day: faire peu de cas de quelque chose

Students went to the Dell Lab and we practiced "Picture Sequences" from the old AP test, series 1 and 2. A third speaking activity was administered by giving students 5 random words in French; they then had to define these words in French again recording their responses on Audacity and then exporting it to the "Hand In" folder.

Period 1 - Spanish 5 AP/GT

Phrase of the day: valer la pena / valer un Potosí / valer un mundo

Students took a joint quiz on the use of verbs. They also had a practice activity on the use of the subjunctive. Students will report to the Dell lab tomorrow.

Periods 2 and 3 - French 2

Students did some activities today using transparencies using the new vocabulary from lesson 9. They will take their quiz on lesson 9 on Monday.

Period 5 - Spanish 3

Using the overhead projection camera, students further studied the use of the informal commands and the "se" impersonal.

Period 6 - French 5 AP/GT

Phrase of the day: chanter la pomme

Students completed "Rejoinders" series 10, "Dialogue" series 5, and "Reading Comprehension" series 3.

Period 1 - Spanish 5 AP/GT

Phrases of the day: dorar la píldora / de carne y hueso

Today students got back their quizzes from the other day. We then went to the Media Center to once again try to set up their "Audacity" accounts, getting them ready to use in the Dell lab on Friday.

Periods 2 and 3 - French 2

Students had study periods today as much of both classes had gone on a science field trip. The lesson 9 quiz is now Monday. Students were asked to study the rest of the vocabulary in the chapter for tomorrow.

Period 5 - Spanish 3

Students warmed up with "Practice" workbook pages 133, 136. We then completed "Writing Audio and Video" workbook page 129 activities 5 and 6. Students were reminded to study the 7A vocabulary and the commands for tomorrow.

Period 6 - French 5 AP/GT

Phrases of the day: une nuit blanche / C'est grand comme ma main.

Students continued their study of the use of articles and il est/elle est/c'est. We completed chapter 7, activities G and H. Students completed a worksheet using identifiers and descriptors. To end class, students received a worksheet (quiz) asking them to use the correct article in different contexts. If they didn't finish it in class, they could take it home and finish it for tomorrow.

Period 1 - Spanish 5 AP/GT

Phrases of the day: ser todos oídos / llevar a cabo

Students continued discussing the role of the Spanish Civil War and Federico García Lorca. We briefly glanced at the list of characters from La casa de Bernarda Alba. Students were reminded to study the subjunctive as there will be a quiz tomorrow. Students will report back to the Dell Lab on Friday.

Periods 2 and 3 - French 2

Last night's homework was collected. Students took a brief quiz on lesson 9 today. Students then began learning the vocabulary in section 9. Students will take a look and study activity 4 from the lesson for tomorrow's class.

Period 5 - Spanish 3

Students completed an activity today using the ud. command. All of these responses were gone over on the board and the activity was handed in. Last night's homework was also collected.

Period 6 - French 5 AP/GT

Phrases of the day: tomber à pic / les tâches domestiques

Today students discussed the role of the article. We talked about when it is used and when it is not used. This was accomplished by orally discussing exercise F in chapter 7. Students will read up to page 155 for tomorrow's class.

Period 1 - Spanish 5 AP/GT

Phrases of the day: quemarse las cejas / ver para creer

Students completed a subjunctive worksheet. After, they were given a brief background to the Spanish Civil War as a preview to our reading of Federico García Lorca's La casa de Bernarda Alba. Students were reminded that each day they would be getting a worksheet using verbs and the subjunctive.

Periods 2 and 3 - French 2

Students were introduced to lesson 9. We read the opening cultural piece and talked about the differences between food here and in France, going shopping here and in France. Students are to complete text, page 155, activities #1 and #2 for next class period. These assignments were started in class.

Period 5 - Spanish 3

Students completed a vocabulary warm up activity. This was gone over in class. Students were then given 10 sentences using the tú informal command. Students translated these into Spanish. We then learned the process to change these commands to the formal positive and negative commands, as well as the informal negative commands. For homework, students will complete text, page 353, activity #6.

Period 6 - French 5 AP/GT

Phrases of the day: un fils à papa / aucune idée

Students learned about the role of the three different articles. We completed activities A-E in chapter 7 of the text. To end class, students completed an exit pass activity using the different articles. Students were asked to study all of chapter 7 for next class.
